  Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tempe and Mesa are bordered on the east by the Four Peaks Wilderness, Mcdowell Mountains and Superstition Mountains. Hundreds of miles of trails lead through rolling foothills and a maze of canyons, buttes mesas and peaks.

  Saguaro National Park is divided in two districts, located on the east and west outskirts of Tucson, AZ. Together, the Rincon Mountain District and Tucson Mountain District cover 91,327 acres, 71,000 of which are designated wilderness areas. The Park's 7 Biotic Communities, determined primarily by elevation and vegetation, are home to over 1,200 plant, 73 mammal and 200 bird species. Such diversity makes it the most biologically rich desert region in North America.

• Sedona: Red Rock - Secret Mountain Wilderness

  Sedona is located at the intersection of Highway 179 and Highway 89 A in north central Arizona, 120 miles north of Phoenix and 30 miles south of Flagstaff. Sedona is the gateway town for hiking and riding in the Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness. Red Rock Country is an umbrella term for 3 adjacent, federally designated wilderness areas totaling over 124,000 acres in the Sedona - Flagstaff area: Red Rock-Secret Mountain Wilderness, Sycamore Canyon, and Munds Mountain Wilderness.
